Third Sector Organisations
Safe School Technologies believes in a simple philosophy:
'There is far more to school safety than gates, cameras, alarms and software.'
The plethora of products that safeguard staff, pupils, parents and school property are only looking at half the story. The other half of the story is addressing the factors that lead to the need for these products in the first place. In essence it is all about asking why?
- Why do some pupils engage in vandalism, truancy and theft?
- Why do some pupils bully others?
- Why do some parents threaten staff?
- Why do some pupils make false allegations against members of staff?
- Why do some pupils feel isolated at school and become victims of bullying?
Addressing these questions in the context of school safety will go a long way to creating a suite of more holistic solutions that aim to shift the focus from identifying and punishing towards prevention and cure.
How does Safe School attempt to answer the above questions?
We have actively sought out and engaged third sector organisations who have councillors and other skilled staff that have studied and understand the psychology behind the negative behaviour in our schools. By bringing these third sector organisations' experience to the table Safe School is able to offer its schools a far more holistic solution for their security and behavioural strategies.
"Involvement with this project provides a powerful and direct channel for third sector organisations
to really make a difference and positively influence the crucially important social environment of schools
across the UK."
